Grenache once flourished on the Upper Tintara Vineyard but along with many other vines in the region, it was pulled out in the 1980s. Dad always said he’d come get me from the grave if I ever re-planted Grenache on Upper Tintara. I re-planted 2.5 hectares last year hoping to one day release an Upper Tintara Grenache. So, if something happens to me in the meantime, you’ll know why!
I work with two wonderful growers in the region to bring this wine to life. Both vineyards are home to forty- and fifty-year-old bush vine blocks which are dry grown on sandy soils in Blewitt Springs and McLaren Flat.
